Barbados is a Parliamentary republic. The prime minister is head of the government and bestowed with executive power. The position of president is largely ceremonial like British Sovereign. Barbados is a full and participating member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), and the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
The Barbados administration is divided into 11 administrative parishes- Christ Church, Saint Andrew, Saint George, Saint James, Saint John, Saint Joseph, Saint Lucy, Saint Michael, Saint Peter, Saint Philip, and Saint Thomas.
The economy of Barbados largely depends on sugarcane, manufacturing and tourism sectors. The government of Barbados is working hard to boost economy and finances. In past, the unemployment was 14%, which now dropped to 10%, due to significant efforts made by the government and the industry. The economy of Barbados contracted after September 11, 2001 attack on America, but Barbados has stood up despite odds and its economy started strengthening after 2004 onwards. Barbados has good business relations with Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, United States and United Kingdom.
